Rome, Italy - Oct 2011

Lydia and I were in Rome, Italy for the first week of October 2011 to see her nephew, Jason, be ordinated a transitional deacon at St. Peter's Basilica. It was an amazing week with many activities surrounding Jason's ordination and we also were able to see a lot of the Vatican and ancient Rome.

Lydia's sisters, Lea, Mary and Joy were also there for the week and we also saw a lot of Bishop Boland from the Savannah diocese while there.

Jason's Ordination

Jason's ordination was held at the Altar of the Chair within St. Peter's Basilica. Thirty five seminarians were ordained to the deaconate by His Eminence William Cardinal Levada. Attending the ordination were over 200 priests, some from the Pontifical North American College where Jason has been studying.

Vatican Museum

The Vatican Museum is immense! These pictures are from the Greek and Egyptian sections of the museum along with the long path leading to and from the Sistine Chapel. Not surprisingly, no photography is allowed in the Sistine Chapel itself.
